Mike Susi
Director of Lending
Mike serves as the Director of Lending at Lukrom, where he oversees the firm’s private lending operations. Lukrom is a direct provider of short-term capital for real estate investment opportunities, specializing in first-position debt across a diverse range of asset classes.
Starting out in the private lending industry in 2019, Mike began his career in Maine, where he was born and raised. In 2022, he relocated to Arizona to collaborate with the accomplished professionals at Lukrom. Since joining, he has been instrumental in establishing the systems, processes, underwriting criteria, and operational standards that define the firm’s lending platform. His primary objective is to streamline the borrowing experience while maintaining a personalized and borrower-centric approach.
Over the years, Mike has structured financing for a broad spectrum of projects, including residential fix-and-flips, spec home construction, condo conversions, hospitality ventures, land acquisitions, mobile home parks, small subdivisions, multifamily developments, and other commercial properties. His extensive experience in underwriting has provided him with a keen ability to assess investment opportunities across various real estate sectors.
Mike is recognized for his meticulous underwriting, deep understanding of borrower and collateral quality, and strong borrower communication throughout the loan term. Beyond private lending, he has personally invested in real estate, serving as a general partner in multiple syndicated apartment deals. In his most recent project, he successfully delivered over 20% annualized returns to LPs. His expertise spans from financial modeling, deal structuring (both investor and debt), value-add business plan development, and execution in partnership with property managers. Additionally, he has consulted on the acquisition of similar residential apartment assets. His hands-on investment experience provides him with a unique perspective, allowing him to offer Lukrom clients insights that go beyond traditional lending and brokerage services.
Outside of Lukrom, Mike is involved with a local men’s charity organization, 20-30 Club of Phoenix which hosts charitable events and raises money for underprivileged youth in Arizona. He is also involved in numerous networking and mentorship groups to continually further his knowledge and network, including ULI Partnership Forum, the Young Developers Council, the Arizona Private Lender’s Association, and the Arizona Real Estate Investors Association. Beyond work, he also enjoys golf, mountain biking, boxing, and exploring new hiking trails with his Bernedoodle, Enzo.
